Vlog Reflection: All the Little Things Matter

Year Reflection

This year was truly astonishing for me.  I had the opportunity to teach some of most surreal, dynamic, and engaging individuals I’ve come into contact with.  Each day was a joy and I was blown away by their genuine nature as well as their willingness to step outside of their comfort zone.  I could honestly go on for days about our classroom dynamic but I would prefer to share a quick video reflection.

One of my amazing students elected to make me an end of the year gift in the form of a video.  He gathered multiple students together and their shared some of their favourite memories of the past year.  What I noticed and will truthfully never forget is that almost every single thing mentioned related to a personal relationship.  No one student thanked me for a specific lesson or learning outcome.  It made me aware that sometimes I am still over consumed and riddled with anxiousness for no reason.  Yes the content is important but not more important than the person.  This was euphoric moment for me.  I’ve attached the video below (with the student’s permission).  I hope you can take something from this and know that above all else we are making a difference beyond the walls of the classroom.

Special thanks to this student (Nick) for creating something I will cherish forever.
